Lakes Area Food Shelf Donations
Lakes Area Food Shelf is grateful to have served the Brainerd Lakes Area area for over 40 years. They were established in 1980 by Donald Messick, a former grocery executive who resided in Pequot Lakes, with the help of the Lutheran Church of the Cross and Christ Community Church, both of Nisswa. Due to its rapid growth, they were named “Lakes Area Food Shelf” in 1991.
Mission: To serve as a trusted community resource by helping our friends and neighbors become hunger-free and obtain a healthy lifestyle.
Vision: We serve friends and neighbors in their time of need, with many now able to help others.
Core Values: We are: Non-judgmental to all who seek assistance. Approachable for all. Principled in our service delivery and decision-making. Respected Stewards of resources.
Give a monetary gift to the Lakes Area Food Shelf at our March and August Meetings or mail a check to PO Box 423, Pequot Lakes, MN 56472. You may also donate on-line through their website, https://lakesareafoodshelf.org/donate using the PayPal Giving Fund or Venmo.
Non-perishable food within it’s expiration date, fresh produce, and personal care items (like toilet paper, diapers, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products and paper towels), and gasoline gift cards may also be donated.
Items often in short supply: shelf-stable proteins (canned/pouched tuna and chicken), laundry soap, dish soap, shampoo, bar soap, and feminine hygiene products.
